Mission Statement: To Be Recognized as the World’s Best Rebuilder of Mechanical Diesel Fuel Injectors
Diesel Injector Guru - a/k/a "Guru"
Keeping the old steel on the road™

General Information: Diesel Injector Guru, a/k/a (“Guru”)
For over 10 years, well over 2,000 sets of mechanical diesel fuel injectors have been serviced by the Guru with a heavy focus on Mercedes-Benz® applications. However, Volkswagen, General Motors, Volvo, as well as other makes and models, to include non-automotive mechanical diesel fuel injectors have been serviced. There is a 10-year track record backing up the injector service and ten years backing up the supply items and the services for OFVs and lift pumps.

History and Background Information
The process is perfected, resulting in near-surgically clean injectors, pop-tested, and balanced within +/- 25 PSI. Clients on six of the seven continents have trusted “Greazzer”, who is well known on virtually every Mercedes-Benz® forum site. Over the years, various forum members have called Greazzer the “Guru” of fuel injectors. For this reason, the original website was named dieselfuelinjector.guru, however, there was a brief break in services, and the new site went live on February 24, 2025, www.dieselinjectorguru.com There is the same great service, same great pricing, with the same great pride in the work to keep the old German steel on the road, the old Volkswagon steel on the road, to keep the old GM steel on the road, and to keep the old Volvo steel on the road …
Right now, there is no one out there which can provide the same services at the same prices with the same quality. Period. The process is very simple, quick, and efficient. Customers need to send in a set of rebuildable mechanical diesel fuel injectors. Injectors which have broken barb(s), striped thread(s), cracked halve(s), or impacted, dried waste vegetable oil (WVO), or impacted dissolved metals from burning “black diesel” are not-rebuildable. Turn-around time is now reduced to 72-hours, unless you specify, “no rush.” If the Guru is away from home or if you have an injector set which requires special attention, he will let you know so the aforementioned 72-hour turn-around may not be available.
Please email before shipping your injectors for more defined shipping instructions and to confirm the 72-hour turn-around performance metric.
The 72-hour clock starts ticking the day the injectors are received by the Guru. On the website, there are some pictures which show the “before” and “after” for a set of mechanical diesel fuel injectors from the OM617 family of engines. The heavy rust, grime, carbon, and scale as pictured is replaced by injectors which look about new, inside and out, when the Guru ships them back to the client. This is the same set of injectors, and the photos are not doctored. If you supply new nozzles, then the injectors will perform like new also. Please do not use a wire wheel to clean your injectors as it strips away what remains of the factory e-coat.
The Guru does not sell new nozzles (yet); rather, the Guru does offer some used nozzles, as available. Injectors may not need replacement nozzles. However, it is very fair to assume after 100,000 miles, the nozzles are worn and should be replaced. The posters on different forum sites claiming 200,000 or 300,000 miles and no wear are probably mistaken. The used nozzles available for sale do not stream or “pee” diesel fuel, they have a nice spray pattern, and are intended to serve a more temporary function -- lasting 20,000 to 30,000 miles, depending on the used nozzle purchased. Used nozzles cost $5.00 to $10.00 each, unless near new, minty nozzles are available which sell for $20.00 each. Used nozzles are sold on a first come – first served basis. If you are married to your car, then it is strongly recommended you buy new German-made or Italian-made nozzles. Bosch® made nozzles are made either in France, India, or China. The latter country of origin has an incredibly high fail rate right out of the tube – please do not buy, otherwise, you will most likely not be happy in the end.
Shipping is USPS Priority Mail with $300.00 worth of insurance. Payment is either PayPal® or USPS Postal Money Order. Below is a breakdown of the price elements:
Service: $20.00 per injector
Shipping: $20.00 for small size flat rate box with $300.00 worth of insurance
$25.00 for medium size flat rate box with $300.00 worth of insurance
PayPal® fees: $5.00
As illustrative examples, sets of four (4) cost $105.00 shipped; sets of five (5) cost $125.00 with USPS small flat rate boxes. If you send to the Guru a USPS Money Order, subtract the $5.00. When you email the Guru as noted above before you ship, you will receive more detailed instructions on USPS Money Orders.
On-going Specials – Overflow Valve (OFV):
The Overflow Valve (OFV), on your Mercedes OM616’s or OM617’s engine’s injection pump, has a spring inside, which is a wear item. The Guru is the only seller in the world which offers a modified spring which slightly enhances the fuel pressure. The Guru has sold 1,000s of these springs with always two-thumbs up. See https://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-performance-tuning/361825-performance-overflow-valve.html As a special, if you ship your OFV with your injectors, the Guru will rebuild your OFV for free. The price of the new spring is now reduced to $30.00. You must have a rebuildable type of OFV as pictured. The spring is replaced and if your steel ball bearing is worn, then that will be replaced. However, if the ball bearing is not worn, it will not be replaced. Please do not stretch your current spring. It will not restore your pressure correctly. Please remember, this is a package deal that is only available if you get your injectors serviced by the Guru. You must ship your OFV with your injectors at the same time. As noted above, broken or missing pieces will render your OFV as not-rebuildable.
Lift Pumps:
The lift pump, on your Mercedes OM616 or OM617 engine’s injection pump, has a spring, O-ring, as well as other wear items inside. The Guru is the only seller in the world which offers a modified spring which slightly enhances the fuel pressure. The lift pump goes through the same process as injectors, cleaned to a near level of surgical precision. The O-ring is replaced, the spring is replaced, the two plastic valves and their springs are inspected and changed as required. A new Bosch® gasket and new Bosch® primer pump is included and is installed as well, respectively. The lift pump is ready to be installed once you get it back. A coat of black paint which mimics its original color is applied. Turn-around time is 72-hours. The lift pump will perform like new and it will look pretty-close to new as well. The decal will most likely be gone, the cadmium finish will be somewhat still intact unless the Guru makes a judgment call to paint everything black, except the fittings. The O-ring size is unknown until disassembly, which is why you see multiple O-rings pictured. Just like injectors, the lift pump must be in a rebuildable condition – no broken or missing parts. The rebuild is superior to any kit out there and superior in price and quality than any rebuild out there as well. The Bosch® kits are NLA, but they surface occasionally as NOS buys. However, they do not have the modified spring which enhances the pump’s PSI; kits do not cover all possible shaft sizes; and they did not include the primer pump. The price is $180.00 shipped, USPS with $200.00 worth of insurance. If you pay by PayPal®, add $5.00, for a total of $185.00. However, if you get your injectors done, then subtract $20.00 because the Guru combines shipping if everything is done at the same time. Same regarding paying by USPS money order – subtract $5.00
Springs:
The slightly enhanced PSI is just that, around 10 to 18 PSI. Like an injector, the pump pressure is not absolutely constant, but rather it fluctuates as it is a plunger-type pump. The springs took considerable R&D. The springs keep the pressure for longer periods at the higher pressures. This permits the fuel in the IP to maintain a more stable fuel pressure. Will your 240D, with a OM616 rival a high performance race car with these springs? Probably not, but you should experience a little bit more pep, a better idle, and so forth. The springs enhance the engine’s fuel system, which should enhance your overall driving experience. If you have other problems with your car, then the spring(s) can only achieve so much. As a wear item, the springs need to be replaced anyway after 100,000 miles, so why not get a better spring if you can.
Heat Shields and Return Line:
If you get your injectors serviced, then for just an additional $10.00 you will receive one (1) meter of black cloth, German-made, 3.2mm return line and four (4) or (5) 10.00mm orifice heat shields, depending on your engine. This is only a package deal if you get your injectors serviced. This is a lot cheaper than ordering from the different vendors out there.
If you end up buying the injector service, the OFV spring, the lift pump service, and the heat shields and return line, you not only get the benefit of combined shipping, and a practically rebuilt fuel system, but the Guru will knock-off another $20.00 and the PayPal® fees will remain the same. As an illustrative example of the different price elements:
Set of five injectors: $20.00 x 5 = $100.00
Over-Flow Valve Spring: $30.00, installed for free
Rebuilt Lift Pump: $165.00
Return Line and Heat Shields $10.00
Shipping: $25.00
PayPal® $5.00
Total: $335.00
Minus $20.00 Super Deal $315.00
If you skip PayPal®, then $310.00
The Golden Rule, warranty, and standing behind one’s work:
If you take the time, you will see that the Guru stands behind his work. For a while, there was no website and no rules. All advertising was nothing more than word of mouth. The prior website had a long, long list of rules. The reason for this was that occasionally a client would do something which was peculiar. For example, get the benefit of the service and nozzles, drive the car around for over a year or two, then complain after a year or two that the car “smokes”, et cet., and a refund was demanded. Or, every so often, a client may claim an injector leaks at the halves or even all injectors leak at the halves. Over the years, the number of true leakers can be counted on one hand. The reason for this is that pressure is held for a solid two minutes. If no leak is observed or no rapid drops in PSI, then it is fair to say there is no leak. As for those folks who said they had leakers, almost always they wanted a full refund and to keep the benefit of the injector service and / or the nozzles. They would invariably refuse to return the injectors for inspection, but every now and then they would. I would go the extra step and install the injector(s) in my car, and guess what -- the injectors did not leak. I took videos, pictures, and I ended up eating the costs for the shipping. Those days are over. Same with loaners or cores. Some folks thought it would be a good idea to keep the loaners and cores, so that I cannot offer them to future clients now. The moral of the story is this: If you believe you have a bona fide leaking injector, please contact me immediately. The Guru will provide you with detailed instructions on how to detect a true leaker because 99%+ of the time the injector is not leaking at the halves. Rather, it is leaking from the threaded, high-pressure steel lines or the barbed ends, or both. However, if you have a true leaker, there is a 99%+ chance that a crack developed in the lower half or some sort of corrosion exists which was not readily visible in the upper half that adversely impacts the intermediate disc’s sealing ability. It is strongly suggested you send back the true leaker with a serviceable core. If there is a true leaker, then the serviceable core will be rebuilt with the same care and pride as every other injector and shipped back to the client with no charge, and with the nozzle swapped from one nozzle holder to the other. However, for those very, very few folks who are lurking out there trying to get something for free, please note all sales are final. Or, for those who are inquisitive, the Guru will know if you took an injector apart or a lift pump apart or a OFV apart. All bets are off if you give in to your investigative side. If you have a problem or issue, you must let the Guru know within 30-days. Otherwise, it is assumed you are absolutely happy in all regards with the services and products you receive.
